Motivational Monday: Don't be Discouraged...

Share

There is only one person in life that looks more wonderful the closer you get to Him. That Person is God. Outside of Him, we all tend to look a little better at a distance. This, in my opinion, is why marriages tend to take a little dip after the wedding day.

There is not one person in the world that can meet your every need, including your spouse. Only Christ can do that.

Don't be discouraged you always have someone watching, and guiding you along the way...

MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY: Acceptance

Share

Today I would like to motivate you all by telling you another secret to a great marriage.

Accepting our partner EXACTLY as they are. We cause ourselves untold misery whenever we believe our loved ones to be imperfect and try to change them.

To create a great relationship, say and mean, "I love you just the way you are." No pretense. No hoping for change. No thought that it used to be better, or might get better. Follow through by living into that sentiment every day.

Falling into the trap of thinking, "I wish you were different" or "Please change." is no way to show your love. Happiness lies in this number one rule of great relationships: Love and accept your partner exactly the way they are.

MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY: Its You...

Share

Yes, we live for our husband, we live for our kids, we love our jobs, etc., but what is all of this if we don't live for us?  Our kids are our motivators, our husbands are great motivators, our careers motivate us for many reasons, but its you thats your biggest motivator.  Its you that needs to take care of you.  Its you that inspires the ones around you.  Its you that needs to love you, everything else is just great additions to you...

MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY: It starts with a kiss...

Share

These days there are so many demons trying to still our joy, and sometimes we do bring that home to our families.  We blow things up more than what they have to be, and we take things out our Spouses.  Well I have a solution, and it all starts with a kiss.  If you're not doing this already, start today!  Today I motivate you all to greet your husbands with a tight hug for at least 10 seconds, and kiss each other on the mouth for at least a 5 second count.  After doing this on a regular basis, I promise it does wonders for a marriage, and he would even know that it all started with a kiss...

MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY: Bigger and Better 2012 Sisterhood

Share

Yesterday, we welcomed new members into our Sisterhood.  When we host these meet and greets, its as if the holy spirit is speaking from everyone's mouths, and is assuring us that we are in the right place, and something wonderful is taking place.  So in light of the spirit, I would like to motivate all of the sisters, new, old, and potential to accept the things that the spirit have set in front of you, love yourself, love your husband, honor your sisterhoods, and the next time someone ask you about your relationship, say I am HAPPILY MARRIED!!!!!!!!

Wordless Wednesday: Black History Month - Mr. & Mrs. Herbert & Zelmyra Fisher

Share

Herbert Fisher married Zelmyra on May 13, 1924.  They are in the World Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest living African American couple.  Married for 84 years, Herbert, age 105, and Zelmyra, age 103, don’t seem to be fazed by their accomplishment.  Zelmyra says there are “No secrets.  There isn’t any secret. It was only God that kept us together.”

The two built their home on the belief and intention that the marriage would last forever. They now enjoy sitting on the porch as people pass by, watching television together and the company of their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The two have managed to keep their marriage strong because of a mutual love and respect that they have and show toward each other. And they say if they had it all to do over, they wouldn’t change a thing.

Just recently, they received a signed commendation from President Obama with a promise of an official invitation to the White House to meet him.

The Real Wives of Chicago will like to honor, Mr. & Mrs. Herbert & Zelmyra, Thank You for your Contribution of love, respect and togetherness!

Wordless Wednesday: Black History Month - Mr. & Mrs. Medgar & Myrlie Evers

Share

Mr. & Mrs. Medgar & Myrlie Evers  contribution to African-American history opened up the doors for  African-Americans by fighting for us in the Civil Rights Movement.  In 1952, after earning a Bachelors Degree in Business Medgar Evers began working with the NAACP traveling and organizing peaceful protest, and voter registration drives.  He was elected to be the organizations first secretary and continued to speak on behalf of his people.

June 12, 1963 Mr. Evers was shot in the back in his own driveway, but his dedicated wife picked up the torch, and in her husbands memory began to travel the world and continuing to travel spreading her husbands words, and the progress of the Civil Rights Movement.

The Real Wives of Chicago will like to honor, Mr. & Mrs. Medgar & Myrlie Evers, Thank You for your Contribution!

MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY: Live your marriage to the fullest!

Share

This Motivational Monday we would like to motivate you to really enjoy your life with your spouse.  Life is to short to dwell on him leaving his socks next to the bed everyday, instead give him a kiss and pick up the socks.  Better yet, communicate with him that you would like him to pick up his socks.  Why loose a minute of your day being angry, when you can enjoy every minute of your day loving each other and having fun!  Today I would like to motivate you live your marriage to the fullest! Plan a date night today and LIVE!!!!!

MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY: Accept

Share

In marriage their are ups and downs, growth and changes, positive, and not so positive times, but I feel that if we motivate each other to accept those times, accept those changes then we can breeze through them.  Accept your spouse for the person that they are, for the person that they have become, and honor your union...

MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY: Dr. Kings Words

Share

This Motivational Monday I would like to share with you some quotes in the words of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. that I feel will be great motivational advice for married couples;

Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase.
Martin Luther King, Jr.

I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.
Martin Luther King, Jr.

Never succumb to the temptation of bitterness.
Martin Luther King, Jr.

It is not enough to say we must not wage war. It is necessary to love peace and sacrifice for it.
Martin Luther King, Jr.

Thank You Reverend Dr. King for providing us with the motivation to dream, and to make a difference not only as a people, but also in our marriages.
