Motivational Monday: The Reason...

Share

This time of year its easy to get caught up in the Black Friday deals, the shopping, the who gets what, that we forget the real reason of Christmas, the real reason of the holidays.

To celebrate the birth of Christ in his human flesh who died on the Cross to pay for your salvation and destroy all the works of the devil in your lives! That is what Christmas is all about!

So, at this time so many are disappointed with what the recieve as gifts of what they can't get for their kids, etc., but we motivate you to take this time and remember the real reason for the season, and just share the experience with your family, appreciate your family, and remember that God always finds away.

In our book club we read the 5 love languages by Gary Chapman, and we learned that sometimes we can express love in ways that we want to be loved, but it may not necessarily be you like for Mothers Day, words of affirmation, giftsthe way that person wants to be loved.

So with Mothers Day coming up, I would like to know what would , acts of service, quality time or physical touch?

Wordless Wednesday: Black History Month - John & Eunice Johnson

Share

We kicked off our celebration of Black History month last week by paying tribute to our President and First Lady, Mr. & Mrs. Barack and Michelle Obama.  This week we will keep it going with another Chicago power couple, Mr. & Mrs. John & Eunice Johnson.

Their contribution to African-American history showed African-Americans that they too are beautiful, and to show the world.  In the late 1940's they founded Johnson Publishing Co., and launched Ebony and Jet, magazines that helped black folks shape positive self-images during the days of segregated America. Billed as “the world’s largest traveling fashion show” Fashion Fair kicked off in 1958. Giving black models a chance to showcase and give black audiences a chance to see designer apparel in fund-raising shows staged in small towns and big cities across America.

They found potential in a unknown model, Pat Cleveland who if not for her paving the way for models today, there will be no Naomi Campbell, and Tyra Banks.

The Real Wives of Chicago will like to honor, Mr. & Mrs. John & Eunice Johnson, Thank You for your Contribution!

MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY: Dr. Kings Words

Share

This Motivational Monday I would like to share with you some quotes in the words of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. that I feel will be great motivational advice for married couples;

Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase.
Martin Luther King, Jr.

I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.
Martin Luther King, Jr.

Never succumb to the temptation of bitterness.
Martin Luther King, Jr.

It is not enough to say we must not wage war. It is necessary to love peace and sacrifice for it.
Martin Luther King, Jr.

Thank You Reverend Dr. King for providing us with the motivation to dream, and to make a difference not only as a people, but also in our marriages.

HOT TOPIC TUESDAY: Holiday Parties Spouse or no Spouse

Share

It's holiday time, and there are lots of holiday parties to attend.  Personally, I love to have my husband on my side, because I feel that making date nights happen during the holidays are a little difficult so I use the holiday party as an opportunity to spend a little time with hubby, but then there are those who like to leave their spouse at home.  What do you think?  Do you spread the holiday cheer with your spouse or leave them at home?

HOT TOPIC TUESDAY: Different religions in Marriage

Share

After having a great Easter with my family filled with Easter Egg Hunts, Church, Prayer and FOOD, I begin to think about other people that may not have as smooth as a Resurrection day as I had.

How do you handle holidays in a marriage, when you practice two different religions?
